English Language Learners

Scaffolding Language and Literacy for ELL students

English Language Learners need specialized supports to ensure that they are learning content while they are acquiring oral language skills in English. These scaffolds help them to develop the Cognitive Academic Language which will enable them to succeed as readers, writers and users of English. This session will provide a wide array of classroom ready strategies which will empower teachers as they guide language learners toward accelerated development in reading, writing and oral language proficiency. Come prepared for ready to use strategies that can be used across the curriculum, will work for any grade level and will leave teachers and children alike feeling excited about literacy.
