Writing: Analytical Traits
How Can I Incorporate the Six Traits of Writing? (K-8)
- Seminar #1: Ideas, A Dire Necessity!
- Seminar #2: Organization, What is That?
- Seminar #3: Word Choice, A "Gem" or ÒMuscleÓ it's your choice, you're the author
- Seminar #4: Voice, What's THAT You Say?
- Seminar #5: Fluency, ah, oh, uh, Needs a Bit of "Oiling"
- Seminar #6: Conventions, Serving the Needs of Others
- Seminar #7: Presentation & Wrap Up Using all Six Traits
This seminar is most effective when each seminar is taken in the format it is presented as there are so many wonderful strategies to share with each of the six traits of writing. Each seminar will concentrate on the specific trait and how to teach it to your students. Picture books, content area books, fiction/non-fiction, periodicals, etc. will be used to demonstrate how to teach each trait. A FUN and EFFECTIVE process for teaching students to write as well as assess their own writing.
Presented by: Yvonne Aarden
Ideally: Seven week seminar with one day seminar for each trait so teachers have time to practice the individual trait before being taught the next trait of writing. Could also be a three day training with demos in the classroom during the day and teachers coming to seminars each afternoon after school.) This seminar can be created to meet the needs of each school district and I am flexible on working with school districts.
