Teaching Reading in Content Area Classrooms

Experience more joy in your life knowing that you will develop skilled readers and learners who will come to enjoy the subject you teach because you've provided them with the tools for success! Participants will be introduced to a three- part learning framework for reading strategy instruction. Practice in the use of think aloud, read aloud and use of literature and discussion as a way of learning will be included. Specific learning strategies include fast write, use of context clues, paraphrasing, paired reading and questions and techniques for journal writing. Finally, assessment techniques will be discussed.
