Early Literacy

Focus on Early Literacy: Nonfiction from the Beginning

Nonfiction experiences capture young children's natural interest in the world around them while providing powerful vehicles for phonics and comprehension instruction. When read alouds, shared reading, guided reading and so on are richly woven with informational texts, young children learn about the world WHILE they are learning to read.
