Reading: Best Practices

Reader's Workshop From Start to Finish

Reading is thinking. Following the gradual release of responsibility model, this workshop is designed to guide your readers through explicit read and think alouds. As you determine the essential elements designed for each student you will facilitate and scaffold your student’s learning in small groups enabling them to confer, apply strategies and monitor their own learning. Finally you will individualize their instruction, guiding them in choosing just right books, within a variety of genre, sparking their interests and leading them to critical literacy, all the while perfecting your art of conferencing.
